SLDO had the privilege of meeting Sarah to gift her one of our financial grants. Sarah contracted meningococcal 2 years ago and, at the time of meeting her, had been admitted to the hospital 51 times, had 28 surgeries, had 3 organs removed, lost multiple fingers and toes, is awaiting a live kidney donation and is fed through a machine. She is smiling, positive and one of the most inspiring people we’ve had the pleasure of meeting.
With the money received from SLDO, Sarah was able to equip her bedroom with the necessary items to accommodate her feeding machine.
UPDATE: Sarah is now back home after 5 months in the hospital and able to manage her feeding machine on her own!
